Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Kangsu) will host the "1st World Cup Stream Cheongbori Festival" on June 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at World Cup Stream (from World Cup Stream to the confluence with Seongsan Stream), an ecological stream in the heart of the city.
This festival is designed to allow residents to relax in nature and enjoy a variety of cultural events at World Cup Stream, where green barley fields that evoke nostalgia for one's hometown and ornamental poppies are harmoniously arranged.
The Cheongbori Festival will open at 11:00 a.m. with a vibrant performance by a traditional percussion troupe, wishing for the festival's successful launch.
Additionally, as a pre-event, the Mapo-gu Sports Association will organize the "1st World Cup Stream Cheongbori Festival Walking Competition," which will take place along approximately 2.8 kilometers of green barley and poppy flower paths. This program allows participants to fully experience the atmosphere of the season and to immerse themselves in nature both physically and mentally. Those who complete the course will receive a medal.
The opening ceremony of the Cheongbori Festival will begin at 2:00 p.m., hosted by MC Kwon Younggi, and will proceed with an opening declaration and congratulatory remarks from distinguished guests.
Following this, there will be an awards ceremony for the winners of the "1st World Cup Stream Cheongbori Festival Writing, Photography, and Drawing Contest," which was held for elementary, middle, and high school students in Mapo-gu. The contest, themed "Capturing the Stream from My Own Perspective," recognized students who demonstrated outstanding creativity and sensitivity.
Starting at 2:30 p.m., a variety of stage performances by local resident singers and others will take place, further enhancing the freshness of the green barley fields. The heartfelt songs by resident singers will deepen the natural ambiance and add excitement to the festival.
The festival will conclude with a performance by singer Jin Sung. Jin Sung, famous for his hit song "Borigo-gae," will evoke memories of hometown fields with his deeply resonant voice, bringing the community together.
In addition, the festival site will feature a flea market with participation from local residents and small business owners, an emotional photo zone set against the backdrop of the green barley fields, and a variety of food trucks, all of which will provide visitors with a special day.
