"Strong Bulls Gather" ... Changwon Special City to Host Changwon National Folk Bull Wrestling Competition

Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province will host the 23rd Changwon National Folk Bull Wrestling Competition at a special arena in the Magumsan Hot Spring District, Buk-myeon, Uichang-gu, from May 29 to June 2, 2025.

The 23rd Changwon National Folk Bull Wrestling Competition is organized and hosted by Changwon City and the Changwon Branch of the Korea Folk Bull Wrestling Association. Around 200 bulls from across the country, including 20 from the Changwon area, are expected to compete and showcase their skills.


This year's bull wrestling competition, which offers a total prize pool of 55.2 million won, will be divided into three weight classes: Gap, Eul, and Byeong. Preliminary rounds will be held in a tournament format starting on May 29, with the finals taking place on the last day, June 2.


The opening ceremony on May 31 will feature congratulatory performances by singers Kim Eunju and Shin Junghwa, as well as a variety of prize giveaways, promising a unique and enjoyable experience for both spectators and local residents.


Jang Geumyong, acting mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "I hope many people will visit during the competition period to enjoy the thrilling bull wrestling matches and spend valuable time with their families at Magumsan Hot Spring in Buk-myeon, relieving accumulated fatigue and stress."
