A wildfire broke out in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, and authorities have been fighting the fire for two days.
According to forestry and firefighting authorities on the 12th, to extinguish the wildfire that started around 2:15 PM the previous day on a mountain in Wangjing-myeon, Yeoncheon-gun, five helicopters and other resources have been deployed to control the flames through the morning of the second day.
It is estimated that about 2,000㎡ of forest land has been burned so far. There have been no reports of casualties or evacuations.
Due to the nature of the DMZ, it is difficult to deploy vehicles and personnel, which has made firefighting efforts challenging.
