Pocheon City took action as large wildfires recently occurred in places such as Sancheong, Gyeongnam and Uiseong, Gyeongbuk, and the wildfire risk increased due to continued dry weather.

On this day, Mayor Baek Young-hyun visited the Pocheon City wildfire response standby room to personally check the firefighting equipment and dispatch system, stating, “Since wildfires caused by arson by mountain visitors and others are occurring frequently, the initial response is key to protecting citizens’ lives and property,” and urged, “Your role is more important than anything else.”

He then listened to the difficulties faced by on-site workers and said, “We will continue to further enhance wildfire response capabilities and do our best to protect citizens’ lives and property.”

Meanwhile, Pocheon City has been operating the wildfire prevention countermeasures headquarters since January 24 and is constructing a wildfire response center in Ildong-myeon to strengthen the wildfire response system. In addition, it is making thorough efforts to respond to wildfires by promoting the installation of surveillance cameras (CCTV) in wildfire-prone areas.
