Katie Perry, a famous American pop singer who topped the US Billboard singles chart with hits like 'Roar' and 'Firework,' will participate in the 11th private spaceflight of Blue Origin, the space company led by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

On the 27th (local time), Blue Origin announced that a total of six civilian women, including Katie Perry, will board the 11th manned flight of the spacecraft 'New Shepard.'

Onboard the spacecraft will be Lauren Sanchez, Bezos's fianc?e and vice chair of the Bezos Earth Fund, serving as a crew member. Other participants include Gail King, famous as a morning show host on the US CBS network; aerospace engineer Aisha Bow; film producer Keriann Flynn; and astrobiology research scientist and civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen.

Notably, Amanda Nguyen was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 for her human rights advocacy for survivors of sexual violence and was named Time magazine's 'Woman of the Year.' Through this flight, she will become the first female astronaut from Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

The company stated that the spacecraft is scheduled to launch this spring but did not disclose a specific date. This space trip will involve passengers aboard New Shepard reaching the Karman line at an altitude of 100 km, the boundary between Earth and space, where they will experience weightlessness for several minutes.

Blue Origin said, "This is the first all-female spaceflight since Valentina Tereshkova's solo spaceflight in 1963." So far, a total of 52 civilians, including Bezos, have traveled to the edge of space aboard New Shepard.
