Park So-young, a member of the Daegu City Council (People Power Party·Dong-gu 2), announced on the 24th that, due to high citizen satisfaction with the nighttime scenery project on Dongdaegu-ro, she urged through a written administrative inquiry to expand the nighttime scenery project to the entire section of Dongdaegu-ro.

Dongdaegu-ro is a road stretching about 6 km from Fatima Hospital to Doosan Five-way Intersection, but the project section for 2024 is only 500 m, and citizens have continuously raised the need for expanding the project.

Councilor Park proposed that if it is difficult to promote the project on the entire section of Dongdaegu-ro immediately due to budget circumstances, the replacement of old streetlight poles with smart streetlights during the annual replacement project be considered.

She also cited the successful cases of media facades introduced at COEX and Shinsegae Department Store in Myeongdong, Seoul, and inquired about installing media facades on the walls of large buildings along Dongdaegu-ro and promoting the designation of certain sections of Dongdaegu-ro as free display zones for outdoor advertisements. A media facade is a new scenic formation technique that installs LED lighting on building exteriors to implement media functions, creating not only beautiful urban landscapes but also including information delivery functions.

Finally, Councilor Park said, “Dongdaegu-ro, along with Dalgubeol-daero, is a representative main road of Daegu and serves as a gateway connected to Dongdaegu Station and the complex transfer center,” and urged, “Please actively consider expanding the nighttime scenery project to make it a world-class attraction along with the opening of the new airport.”
