The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) held the opening ceremony of Gyeonggi Ieum On School (Principal Kim Gwang-ju) on the 19th and will officially begin the first semester academic operations starting this March.

View original imageLocated in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do (Suwon Jeil Middle School annex), Gyeonggi Ieum On School will conduct real-time interactive classes with teachers in a total of 17 individual studios, providing customized learning opportunities tailored to each student.
Additionally, the school will offer various subjects online, supporting the operation of the high school credit system fully implemented from 2025, and is expected to help create an educational environment that reflects the individual learning needs of each student.
At the opening ceremony, Superintendent Lim Tae-hee, Chairperson Lee Ae-hyung of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council Education Administration Committee, members of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, and over 50 key officials from the Ministry of Education and the Office of Education attended to celebrate the new beginning of Gyeonggi Ieum On School.
The opening event proceeded in the order of ▲ operational direction of Gyeonggi Ieum On School ▲ role as a future-oriented online education model ▲ current status of Gyeonggi Ieum On School facilities ▲ presentation of online curriculum operation plans.
After the event, the attendees observed a live demonstration of real-time classes using the individual studios. Watching the interactive classes conducted with students in real time, they expressed expectations that Gyeonggi Ieum On School will play a leading role as an online platform school.
Superintendent Lim Tae-hee stated, “Gyeonggi Ieum On School started from the question of how to provide student-customized education aligned with the purpose of the high school credit system, and how to offer educational opportunities according to the diverse learning needs of students. This aligns with the goal of providing what students want anytime and anywhere within the framework of public education through the ‘Hi-Learning’ teaching and learning platform that Gyeonggi education is preparing.”
He continued, “I hope that over 400 teacher research groups will participate to support customized content and systematic curricula so that students can access excellent content beyond time and space in various ways. The opening of Gyeonggi Ieum On School will be a new milestone in Korean education in terms of realizing customized education that meets the diverse needs of students,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Ieum On School is a public accredited miscellaneous school that supports digital-based teaching and learning and operates an online curriculum. It has been established following the Ministry of Education’s pilot operation plan for public online schools.
