A pair of Oriental storks nesting at Seosan Birdland in Chungnam has successfully bred for the third consecutive year, drawing attention.

The Seosan city government announced on the 13th that it had confirmed the stork pair laid eggs on January 29 through fixed CCTV cameras installed at Seosan Birdland.

This CCTV is installed at a distance that does not disturb the storks' activities, and the city has been monitoring the storks' condition through it.

According to observations, breeding occurred somewhat earlier compared to last year when eggs were laid in February, and currently, the stork pair is taking turns incubating the eggs.

After laying the eggs, due to heavy snowfall and cold waves, the stork pair reinforced the nest to cover the eggs, making direct observation difficult.

The city assumes that additional eggs may have been laid after the first, and plans to continue monitoring the storks for their protection via CCTV.

In addition, starting from the 13th, real-time CCTV footage for stork observation will be provided through the Seosan Birdland website to encourage ongoing public interest in stork conservation.

Shim Youngbok, head of the Seosan Birdland Office, said, "We are deeply moved that the stork pair that bred at Seosan Birdland for two years has succeeded in breeding for a third consecutive year," and added, "We will do our utmost to create an optimal breeding environment so that the storks born here can soar healthily over Seosan Cheonsuman."
