This achievement is the result of Nakdong River Sports Park establishing itself as the optimal location for hosting national competitions and large-scale events.

In particular, a variety of successful events such as the LG Cup Housewives Volleyball Tournament, Fairy Tale Festival, Gumi Cup National 3on3 Basketball Tournament, and the 2024 I League Soccer Tournament have further elevated the reputation of Gumi City.

Additional increases in visitors are expected, with upcoming events such as the Korea Successor Agricultural Management National Competition and the North Gyeongsang Province Residents Sports Festival.

Nakdong River Sports Park offers a wide range of seasonal attractions. In winter, an outdoor sledding slope operates, while in summer, a water park welcomes visitors.

The park is also equipped with various facilities for visitor convenience, including a convenience store, the Gumi Campground which attracts about 200,000 people annually, and the largest park golf course in the area, Gumi Park Golf Course. These diverse facilities have significantly contributed to the increase in visitor numbers.

The water park, which opened on July 20, surpassed 10,000 visitors by July 31, just 11 days into its operation. The daily maximum number of visitors exceeded 2,000. With the summer vacation season, the number of visitors has surged, and this trend is expected to continue through August when the vacation ends.

Gumi City is currently promoting the “Chamsari Campground Development Project” to further vitalize Nakdong River Sports Park.

This project, scheduled for completion in 2025, plans to add 50 sites to the existing auto campground, providing the latest facilities on the largest scale in the country. This is expected to increase visitor satisfaction by enhancing connectivity with nearby waterfront facilities and attract even more visitors.

This year, one soccer field will also be renovated to meet international standards and be converted to artificial turf, contributing to the hosting of national competitions and improving the performance and safety of local soccer enthusiasts.

Mayor Kim Jangho said, “I am very pleased that Nakdong River Sports Park has become a beloved space for both citizens and visitors,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to enhance the reputation of Gumi City by attracting various events and sports competitions, and to maximize the convenience and satisfaction of our citizens.”
