Kim Jong-un and Putin Sign Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement

North Korean and Russian Leaders Hold Two-Hour One-on-One Meeting

Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, and Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, signed a 'Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement' that will open a new horizon in North Korea-Russia relations.

According to Russian Sputnik Interfax news agency on the 19th, Chairman Kim and President Putin concluded a one-on-one meeting lasting about two hours at the North Korea-Russia summit held at the Kumsusan Guesthouse in Pyongyang, North Korea, and signed the agreement. The news agency reported that the one-on-one face-to-face meeting between the two leaders lasted about two hours.

Earlier, in his remarks at the expanded summit meeting, President Putin said, "Today, a new fundamental document that will serve as the foundation for long-term bilateral relations has been prepared."

Chairman Kim emphasized, "North Korea highly values Russia's important mission and role in maintaining the world's strategic stability and balance."

This is President Putin's first visit to North Korea in 24 years since July 2000.
