Pohang Mayor's Cup Sailing Championship Successfully Concludes

Sailing Competition, the Highlight of Marine Sports, Held This Weekend, Offering a Spectacular View at Yeongildae Sea

The 2024 Pohang Mayor’s Cup Sailing Championship was held at Yeongildae Beach in Pohang on June 15 and 16.

Hosted by the Pohang Sports Council and sponsored by the city and city council, the event brought together over 100 participants, including members of sailing clubs affiliated with the Pohang Yacht Association, enthusiasts from nearby regions such as Daegu, Busan, and Ulsan, as well as people from the Seoul metropolitan area.

This championship was an integrated event featuring yacht, windsurfing, kiteboarding, and wingfoil sailing. Over two days, competitions were held in the PICO, Optimist, and LDC2000 categories, creating a spectacular scene against the beautiful backdrop of Yeongildae Beach. The event also offered an attractive spectacle of the Pohang sea to citizens and tourists visiting Yeongildae Beach over the weekend.

The city will continue to further develop marine sports competitions and do its best to expand and vitalize the local marine leisure sports scene.”
