Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) is accelerating efforts to create a 365-day walkable street and a dignified "Garden City Guro."
Starting with the charming garden created at the district office plaza on the 18th of last month, this year Guro-gu will establish gardens to see, gardens to walk, and gardens to accompany throughout the district.
First is the "Garden to See." High-quality gardens will be created in parks, green spaces, and river areas, and hidden garden sites will be discovered to expand living green spaces and resting areas.
Through the Onsu Neighborhood Park (Teotgol District, Munhak District, Sports District) development project, climate response urban forest creation project, and Guro Neighborhood Park renovation project, gardens, resting places, and walking trails will be established. In particular, a book resting area is planned to be opened next year in the Munhak District of Onsu Neighborhood Park.
Also, next to the U-an Ogeum Bridge on the Anyangcheon River, the district’s first riverside "chacnic" camping site will be newly established, allowing people to enjoy picnics by car. The waterside chacnic lounge will have 10 chacnic zones, a play lounge to enjoy flowers and trees, a step lounge with the first-ever riverside kiosk, and a campnic lounge where tents can be set up, organized into four themes.
Additionally, the roadside green space expansion projects at three locations including Gaebong-dong 74-1, the belt green space maintenance project on Jungang-ro in Gocheok 1-dong, and the ecological restoration and greening project of Anyangcheon will create themed flower beds to break monotony.
Efforts will also be made to expand urban green spaces. A park including a forest playground will be created on the idle land of Cheonwangsan Family Camping Site, a living garden project utilizing vacant houses in Guro-dong will provide green areas, and a garden will be cultivated on the rooftop of the Guro District Council building.
Next is the "Garden to Walk." The construction of a park and green space network in the southwestern area will connect fragmented green spaces with flower paths and green paths blooming all four seasons. A circular walking trail will be created around Waryongsan Onsu Valley in the area of San 11-1, Onsu-dong, and forest trails will be maintained.
Meanwhile, seedlings of daisy and viola flowers were distributed twice at the community centers, allowing residents to get closer to flowers. At the Oryu Interchange (IC) Urban Agriculture Experience Center, crops are cultivated to provide not only sights but also opportunities for children to experience farming, pursuing a "Garden to Accompany."
Moon Heon-il, Mayor of Guro-gu, said, "We will create charming gardens" and added, "We will do our best to make them a landmark where people can enjoy rest and leisure with nature."
