Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will operate a ‘Personal Training’ program using the bodybuilding team for two months in April and May.
Through the team’s talent donation activities, it aims to improve the health of residents interested in exercise and bring vitality to their lives.
The Gwangjin-gu Office bodybuilding team was founded in 1996. Currently, six players are active under coach Lee Kang-sun. Last year, they won gold medals at the National Sports Festival, and furthermore, participated as national representatives in the ‘2023 World Bodybuilding Championships,’ winning gold medals for three consecutive years, establishing themselves as the best bodybuilding team.
The program will run from the first class on April 2 until May 28, every Tuesday from 7 PM to 9 PM. It is designed for a total of 270 Gwangjin-gu residents aged 18 and over, with 15 people per session at the Gwangjin-gu Sports Center and Junggok Culture and Sports Center gyms, totaling 9 sessions.
In a small group format where one athlete coaches five people, the program offers level-specific customized lectures so that beginners to advanced participants can exercise systematically.
Participants can learn correct exercise methods for free through precise lectures on ▲ how to use various exercise equipment ▲ exercise methods for different body parts ▲ stretching and bodyweight exercise postures.
Residents wishing to participate can apply from March 18 through the ‘Participation and Communication’ section on the Gwangjin-gu Office website. Applications are on a first-come, first-served basis, and applicants must select their preferred session and location. For further inquiries, contact the Gwangjin-gu Office Sports Promotion Division.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I applaud the talent donation activities of the Gwangjin-gu bodybuilding team. I hope residents do not miss this great opportunity to learn exercise from national representatives,” and added, “We will continue to promote various sports projects to take care of residents’ health and create a vibrant Gwangjin-gu.”
