A biogas production facility utilizing livestock manure is being promoted in Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province.
On the 6th, Icheon City announced that it was finally selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' '2024 Joint Resource Facility Support Project' contest. The 'Joint Resource Facility Support Project' is a program that supports the installation of facilities for composting and liquid fertilizer production from livestock manure and energy conversion. With this project selection, the city will receive 25.2 billion KRW in project funding.

View original imageAccordingly, Icheon Bioenergy, an agricultural corporation located in Seolseong-myeon, will build a facility to recycle 46,000 tons annually generated from about 58,000 livestock in the Icheon area. The facility plans to produce 8,225 N㎥ of biogas per day and generate 14,736 kWh of electricity daily.
An official from Icheon City said, "Through the biogas project, we plan to not only alleviate the difficulties of livestock farmers but also present a model case that simultaneously considers the environment and agriculture."
