Yongin City announced on the 22nd that Yeongdeok Library held its opening ceremony on the 21st and has started operations.

Yeongdeok Library was built within Yeongdeok Forest Jarimteo Neighborhood Park in Yeongdeok-dong, which was developed through the first private park special case project in the Yongin area.

The library is a three-story building above ground with one basement floor, covering a total floor area of 2,307㎡. It includes a children's reading room, a general reading room, and a multipurpose room. The entire space is designed as an open area without boundaries, and on the third floor, there is a rooftop rest area connected to nearby apartment complexes and the park. The library houses around 20,000 volumes, and the multipurpose room on the second floor will be open to citizens even when there are no special events.

Through a citizen preference survey conducted during the library construction process, the city selected "Travel/Geography" as the library's specialization theme. Accordingly, the library plans to operate various reading culture programs related to this theme in the future.

Lee Sang-il, mayor of Yongin City, said, "The city will continue to make efforts to meet the enthusiasm of Yongin citizens who love reading, so we hope citizens will frequently use Yeongdeok Library."
