Fire at Geoje Pineapple Farm... 1,000 Seedlings Reduced to Ashes

A fire broke out at an subtropical crop farm in Geoje-myeon, Geoje-si, Gyeongnam Province, at 4:04 a.m. on the 19th.

According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, the fire in a 3,000㎡ glass greenhouse where pineapples were being grown burned 500㎡ inside the greenhouse and 1,000 pineapple seedlings.

There were no casualties, but property damage estimated at about 13 million won was reported by the fire department.

The fire was extinguished around 4:51 a.m. by firefighters who responded to a passerby's report.

The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
