Hyundai Green Food Donates 'Eco-friendly Heating Pads'..."Upcycling Uniforms Once Again"

Collecting Used PET Bottle Upcycled Uniforms to Produce Heating Pads
Delivered to Isolated Elderly and Other Marginalized Groups

Hyundai Green Food, a comprehensive food company affiliated with Hyundai Department Store Group, announced on the 16th that it will donate eco-friendly heating pads made by recycling used uniforms returned by nutritionists and cooks at over 500 group meal service sites nationwide to underprivileged groups.

The eco-friendly heating pads are characterized by being made by upcycling once again the eco-friendly uniforms such as aprons and gowns that Hyundai Green Food upcycled from discarded PET bottles last year. Scraps of fabric discarded during the uniform production process were also utilized in making these heating pads.

Hyundai Green Food plans to donate the eco-friendly heating pads to the Seongnam City Support Center for the Elderly Living Alone and the Yongin Western Police Station, so that they can be used by underprivileged groups such as elderly people living alone.

A Hyundai Green Food official said, “We planned the production of these heating pads by considering ways to enable resources to continuously circulate, not stopping at just one upcycling process,” and added, “We will continue to faithfully fulfill our social responsibilities by creating an environment for a sustainable future and practicing sharing.”

Meanwhile, Hyundai Green Food obtained the environmental management system ‘ISO14001’ certification from the Korea Foundation for Quality (KFQ), a global standard and certification organization, in 2021. The company is leading environmental management by developing 204 low-carbon menus for group meals and operating ‘Low Carbon Day’ twice a month.
