The ski season, known as the highlight of winter sports, has arrived. Starting with Gangwon Province, major ski resorts are launching their new season operations.
Phoenix Snow Park announced on the 7th that it will begin the 2023-2024 ski season from the 24th. This season, they plan to introduce various programs and content such as weekend night skiing, a beginner zone for novices, a smart gate system that allows easy and fast access without additional ticket checks, and premium services for guests. The ski season operation period is planned to last until March next year, similar to last year.
Phoenix Snow Park will open all 18 slopes, allowing visitors to enjoy a variety of slopes suited to individual skiing skills, from beginner to advanced levels, and will also operate a separate beginner zone for novice skiers.
Phoenix Park promotes itself as a "ski-in ski-out" resort where all rooms in the three resort buildings, hotels, villa buildings, and youth hostels within the complex have easy access to the slopes. Since last season, they have introduced a smart gate using mobile tickets to minimize waiting times for skiing. Users tag their mobile QR ticket at the smart gate (entry gate) upon first entry, and thereafter can use the slopes and lifts without additional ticket checks or verification.
Phoenix Park has been selling the "Phoenix Snow Park Season Pass" since September. It includes various benefits depending on the type of pass, such as free season passes for children, access to the four-season water park Blue Canyon, Snow Village usage, two-person meal vouchers, and coffee drink coupons. This season, three types of season passes were released: Prime Single, Prime Family, and Prime Plus. The company explained that demand for premium skiing has increased, as sales of the Prime Plus pass, which offers the most benefits, have tripled compared to the same period last year.
This winter season, Phoenix Park plans to expand exclusive services for guests. The equipment valet service provided to hotel guests includes convenient storage of ski equipment and boot drying, allowing guests to enjoy a premium skiing experience that is both convenient and comfortable. Additionally, special time will be operated to allow guests and season pass holders to use the freshly groomed slopes one hour before opening every day. Various other services for guests, such as yoga classes and exclusive lounges, will also be provided.
Food and beverage (F&B) services are also directly operated by Phoenix Park. Led by Executive Chef Shin Chung-jin, who has experience at the Blue House and domestic five-star hotels, top chefs offer a variety of dishes using fresh ingredients. Options include the main buffet restaurant "Ondo," which offers slope views, "Wine Mariage," where guests can enjoy live performances and unlimited wine, the newly opened Chinese restaurant Cheongrim as of July this year, Korean restaurant Ondam, Hanwoo specialty butcher shop, and camping BBQ, providing a wide range of choices.
The rooms are being renovated sequentially. The 67 rooms of three types in the Green Building, which reopened after renovation in July, include the Sky Standard Family (4-person room) with two double beds, the Sky Suite Family (5-person room), which is an expanded version of the popular Cinema Room in the renovated Blue Building, and the Sky Suite Bunker (6-person room) with bunk beds, especially popular among families with children. Among the newly introduced Green Building rooms, there is also a Kakao Friends-themed room. The Kakao Friends room maximizes fun and interest by using frames, cushions, rugs, sheets, and other props and spaces themed around Phoenix Park.
Phoenix Park will hold a free Snow Park admission event for guests staying during the first two weeks after opening. Free admission is provided according to the number of guests per room, and visitors can also enjoy Snow Village, which offers various fun experiences with snow.
Meanwhile, along with Phoenix Snow Park, Yongpyong Ski Resort will also open on the same day. Vivaldi Park in Hongcheon will start its season on the 25th of this month, and on the 1st of next month, Jeongseon High1 Ski Resort and Chuncheon Elysian Gangchon will begin their ski seasons. Hoengseong Welli Hilli Snow Park will open on the 2nd of next month.
