Korea Investment & Securities, a subsidiary of Korea Financial Group, announced on the 16th that it will carry out a library support project at two elementary schools in the Binh Chanh area of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Binh Chanh has recently been experiencing a shortage of child protection, education, and medical infrastructure due to urbanization. Korea Investment & Securities, together with Korea Investment Management and World Vision, has created reading spaces for students at two local elementary schools, 'Le Minh Xuan' and 'An Ha.'
The project, which began in July this year, involves renovating school libraries and providing books and various equipment, aiming to improve the reading environment over the course of one year. Through reading clubs and competitions, it seeks to enhance reading skills, and by establishing computer rooms, it plans to offer media literacy education for teachers and students, thereby increasing adaptability to digital environments. The potential beneficiaries include approximately 85 teachers and 2,200 students.
At the library groundbreaking ceremony held on the 13th at An Ha Elementary School, attendees included Park Won-sang, head of Korea Investment & Securities Vietnam branch; Yoon Hang-jin, head of Korea Investment Management Vietnam branch; Thach Le Thien, representative of World Vision Vietnam; Ph?m Trung Nh?n, deputy head of Binh Chanh Department of Education and Training; as well as school teachers and student representatives.
Park Won-sang, head of Korea Investment & Securities, stated, "Improving the educational environment for future generations is one of the most important social contribution projects that Korea Investment Financial Group is undertaking in Vietnam," and added, "We will actively support students with unlimited potential so that they can contribute to future social development beyond national boundaries."
Deputy Head Ph?m Trung Nh?n expressed, "We expect that a quality learning environment will be established for students at both schools," and anticipated, "Students will also participate more actively in various activities to enhance their knowledge in the improved environment."
Korea Investment & Securities continues its social contribution projects to improve children's reading environments domestically as well. Through the 'Dream Library' project, which remodels old libraries in local child welfare facilities, it provides libraries to children from vulnerable groups. Following Yangpyeong and Anseong in Gyeonggi Province and Jeonju in Jeollabuk-do, a fourth library is planned to open next.
