Shin Yubin (Korean Air) secured a bronze medal in the women's singles table tennis event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
On the 30th, Shin Yubin defeated Taiwan's Chien Tzu-yu (ranked 48th) 4-1 (6-11 11-9 11-7 11-7 11-3) in the women's singles quarterfinals held at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China, securing a spot on the podium. In Asian Games table tennis, both semifinalists receive bronze medals without a third-place playoff.
This is Shin Yubin's first time winning a singles medal at an international multi-sport event. On the 1st of next month, she will compete for a place in the final against world number one Sun Yingsha (China). Shin Yubin is ranked 8th in the world. They have faced each other four times so far, with Sun Yingsha winning all matches.
