Jinha Beach in Ulju-gun, Ulsan City, which closed on the 31st, recorded the highest number of visitors in history this year.
Ulju-gun announced on the same day that from July 1 to August 31, a total of 1,068,450 people visited Jinha Beach during the 62 days of operation, marking a 45.7% increase compared to 579,989 visitors last year.
This year's visitor count is the highest since Ulju-gun began tracking visitors in 2016. Previously, the highest number was recorded in 2017 with 729,400 visitors.
In particular, compared to 2020, when the number of beach visitors dropped to 56,304 due to the impact of COVID-19, this year’s visitors increased by 1,798%, and the number has steadily risen every year since 2020.
Ulju-gun analyzed that the increase in visitors was contributed by the full free rental of convenience items such as shower facilities, parasols, life jackets, and tubes, the operation of free shuttle buses between the beach and public parking lots, and the operation of night lighting facilities on Myeongseondo Island, which received positive responses.
Additionally, various events and performances such as the Ulju Jinha Beach Festival, Ulsan Summer Festival, and Ulju Performance Delivery attracted visitors, while the nearby Ulju Marine Leisure Sports Center offered activities like SUP and leisure experience classes, providing enjoyable marine leisure tourism experiences.
Efforts were also made to prevent safety accidents by installing jellyfish nets due to rising water temperatures and strengthening regular patrol activities, as well as conducting radioactive substance inspections at the beach to ensure visitor safety.
Lee Soon-geol, the governor of Ulju-gun, said, “Thanks to the mature civic consciousness of the users and the close cooperation of related organizations such as fire services, coast guard, and police, we were able to safely conclude the operation of the beach,” and added, “We sincerely thank the many tourists who visited Ulju Jinha Beach this year.”
Ulju-gun plans to thoroughly manage safety even after the closure by deploying safety personnel until September 15, anticipating that many tourists will continue to visit Jinha Beach after the season ends.
