At around 2:06 PM on the 31st, a chemical storage tank exploded outside a chemical manufacturing plant in Seoknam-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon, causing a chemical leak.
There were no casualties, but chlorine, sodium chlorate, and sodium hydroxide?hazardous chemicals designated for disposal?leaked from a 15㎥ tank. These substances pose significant health risks if exposed to humans.
Fire authorities responded to the explosion report and are currently collecting the leaked chemicals at the scene. Seo-gu, Incheon, sent safety text messages requesting nearby residents to keep their windows closed and refrain from going outside.
