Interpark Triple announced on the 19th that the number of outbound travelers who used the company's airline tickets and package products in the first half of this year reached 1.23 million, surpassing 1 million for the first time on a half-year basis.
This represents a 1292% increase compared to 90,000 in the same period last year and a 29% increase compared to 950,000 in the same period of 2019, before the outbreak of COVID-19.
Looking at Interpark Triple's recent quarterly outbound traveler trends, the number exceeded 100,000 for the first time on a quarterly basis with 200,000 in the third quarter of last year, and has rapidly increased through the fourth quarter (360,000), the first quarter of this year (580,000), and the second quarter (650,000).
Interpark Triple cited the provision of differentiated products and services to meet the surging demand for overseas travel in the first year of the endemic (periodic outbreak of infectious diseases) as the reason for recording the largest number of outbound travelers in history. Previously, according to the airline passenger sales settlement system (BSP) headquarters, the amount of airline ticket issuance was 579.1 billion KRW and 122.6 billion KRW in the first half of this year and June, respectively, ranking first in the domestic travel industry. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) standardizes the amount of airline ticket issuance by member companies qualified to issue airline tickets and compiles it based on BSP standards.
An official from Interpark Triple said, "The steep growth beyond recovery in the endemic era is due to differentiated products and services," adding, "We will continue to prioritize customer satisfaction and solidify our position as a leading domestic travel company."
