Mokpo Coast Guard braved the storm and safely transported two emergency patients from island villages to the mainland.
On the 13th at 7:36 PM, the Mokpo Coast Guard received a report that patient A (female in her 80s) from Haewido, Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, who had a high fever accompanied by a full-body rash, required urgent transfer, and immediately dispatched a patrol vessel.
The Coast Guard boarded the patient and her guardian onto the patrol vessel and safely handed them over to the 119 emergency medical team at Bokho Port, Anjwa.
Earlier that day, at 11:48 AM on the 13th, a report was received from Jodo-myeon, Jindo-gun, that patient B (female in her 70s) was suspected of having a fracture after a fall, and she was transported to the mainland using a coastal rescue boat.
Meanwhile, it is known that both patients transported to the mainland with the help of the Coast Guard received treatment at a large hospital located in Mokpo.
A Mokpo Coast Guard official stated, “There were many difficulties in transporting emergency patients in rough weather at sea, but we will do our utmost to respond to emergencies even during adverse weather conditions.”
