7-Car Pileup in Front of Gangnam Department Store... 80s Driver Claims "Sudden Acceleration"

On the 12th, a seven-vehicle pileup, suspected to be caused by sudden unintended acceleration, occurred on the road in front of a department store in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. A parking attendant at the scene was seriously injured and transported to the hospital.

According to the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, at around 3:53 PM that day, near the parking lot of a department store in Samseong-dong, a Genesis passenger car collided with a Mercedes-Benz vehicle and several motorcycles, causing a seven-vehicle pileup.

As a result of the accident, three people, including the vehicle driver and the parking attendant at the scene, were taken to the hospital. The parking attendant is reported to have been seriously injured.

The driver, in his 80s, reportedly stated that "the vehicle suddenly accelerated."

The police are investigating the detailed circumstances of the accident.
