'Escape' will be unveiled through a midnight screening at 12:30 AM (local time) on the 21st at the Lumi?re Grand Theatre in Cannes, France. On that day, producers and directors Kim Yong-hwa and Kim Tae-gon, along with actors Lee Sun-kyun, Ju Ji-hoon, and Kim Hee-won, will walk the red carpet.
The film depicts the story of people trapped on an airport bridge on the verge of collapse, engulfed in thick fog so dense that nothing ahead can be seen, who fight for survival against unexpected consecutive disasters.
Lee Sun-kyun, who has been invited to Cannes with two films this year, 'Sleep' and 'Escape', following 'A Hard Day' (2014) and 'Parasite' (2019), said, "It is meaningful and an honor to present a work at the Cannes Film Festival that all the staff and actors passionately and wholeheartedly filmed during the cold winter," adding, "I hope audiences worldwide enjoy the film."
Ju Ji-hoon, invited for the second time after 'The Spy Gone North' (2018), said, "I am a very fortunate actor," and added, "It is an honor to be invited again to the Cannes Film Festival, a dream for all filmmakers." He continued, "I am excited and curious about how audiences worldwide will perceive our film and what amazing things will happen."
Kim Hee-won, heading to Cannes again after 'The Outlaws' (2017), said, "When I first received the script and during the start of filming, many memories came to mind," and added, "Thinking about seeing the sky and sea of Cannes again makes me happy in every way."
