The 2023 Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships Executive Committee meeting was held at 2 p.m. on the 3rd at Dongbang Hotel.
Following the subcommittee meeting held at 10 a.m. that day, the Executive Committee meeting, the second official event, gathered over 30 executives including the presidents of the International Weightlifting Federation and the Asian Weightlifting Federation to deliberate on the overall operation of the Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships and federation activities.
Attending as the chairman of the organizing committee, Jinju Mayor Cho Gyu-il said, “I am very pleased to see familiar faces I met last July in Uzbekistan in good health again,” and added, “I sincerely thank the Asian weightlifting family who helped make the Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships the largest ever. I hope you enjoy the various contents presented along with the Nongae Festival during your stay and create many beautiful memories.”
In response, Mohamed Youssef Al Mana, president of the Asian Weightlifting Federation, said, “I deeply appreciate Chairman Cho Gyu-il for preparing the event grandly,” and added, “I hope that many more international sports events will be held in beautiful Jinju following the success of this Asia Weightlifting Championships.”
Starting with this meeting, which marked the official beginning of the competition, the Asian Weightlifting Federation General Assembly and a grand opening ceremony encompassing all of Jinju’s contents will be held on the 4th.
The competition is scheduled to begin on Friday the 5th at 11 a.m. at the Jinju Indoor Gymnasium with the women's 45kg category, and a total of 27 matches will be held until the 13th. Admission to watch the matches is free, and intense competitions toward the Paris Olympics will unfold.
