[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man who assaulted, confined, and stabbed his girlfriend with a weapon after she announced their breakup was arrested by the police.
On the 20th, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced that they had urgently arrested Mr. A (38) on charges including special assault and are currently investigating.
Mr. A is accused of visiting the residence of Ms. B (37) in Sincheon-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, at around 5:30 PM the previous day, assaulting and confining her, and then injuring her knee with a weapon when she resisted.
After receiving a 112 emergency call, the police arrived and arrested Mr. A at a nearby hospital at around 3:40 AM. The victim is currently reported to be in no life-threatening condition.
A police official stated, "We are investigating additional charges," and added, "Considering the severity of the victim's injuries, we are also reviewing whether to request an arrest warrant."
