[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The ‘2022 Gadeokdo Non-face-to-face Citizen Walking Contest’ will be held to pray for the early opening of Gadeokdo New Airport and the attraction of the integrated LCC headquarters to Busan.

The Southeast Gateway Airport Promotion Committee will hold the ‘2022 Gadeokdo Non-face-to-face Citizen Walking Contest’ jointly with the International Newspaper on the 20th.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, this walking contest will be conducted non-face-to-face, where participants walk around the Gadeokdo area within a designated period and submit proof to enter a draw for prizes awarded to 500 people.

The event will recruit participants who enjoy walking and are interested in the opening of Gadeokdo New Airport from 10 a.m. on the 24th until November 18.

Walking certification required for prize entry will be accepted from the 24th until November 21.

Participants must register on the organizer’s website, Walk Busan, then upload a certification photo of walking around Gadeokdo on their personal SNS, and submit the SNS post link along with a survey. The prize winners will be announced on November 25.

Each participant will receive a Gadeokdo New Airport promotional leaflet at the Jiyanggok Culture and Tourism Information Center, then walk an approximately 9 km, 3-hour course from Daehang Port, Oeyangpo, Daehang Saebaji, Yeondaebong, and back to Jiyanggok Culture and Tourism Information Center.

Participants who prefer a shorter course can walk a 7 km, 2-hour route directly from Daehang Port to Daehang Saebaji.

The event course is part of Section 2 of Galmaetgil Course 5, which has consistently ranked among the most challenging and most enjoyable courses in the Galmaetgil satisfaction survey conducted by Walk Busan, expected to showcase the unique charm of Gadeokdo.

A representative of the Southeast Gateway Airport Promotion Committee said, “The construction of Gadeokdo New Airport is the region’s biggest issue along with hosting Expo 2030 Busan.” He added, “Since the integrated LCC headquarters is essential for the success of Gadeokdo New Airport, we hope many Busan citizens will show interest and participate in this walking contest praying for the early opening of the new airport and the attraction of the integrated LCC headquarters to Busan.”
