[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] SsangYong Motor announced on the 1st that it sold 8,596 units domestically and internationally last month. This is an increase of about 21% compared to the same period last year and about 22% compared to the previous month.


In the domestic market, 5,102 units were sold, an increase of about 19% during the same period. The Rexton Sports (including Sports Khan, 2,785 units) led the performance with an increase of over 86%. In addition, the electric vehicle Korando e-Motion was recorded in sales performance (78 units) starting last month. It is a model attracting attention as SsangYong's first electric vehicle.


Exports reached 3,494 units, exceeding 3,000 units again for the first time in 10 months since May last year. This is a 23% increase compared to last year. The company explained that it is showing a recovery trend with 2 to 3 months of backorders. There are about 13,000 units of inventory not yet delivered in both domestic and export markets, so sales are expected to increase once the parts supply issue is resolved.



A SsangYong Motor official said, "Despite semiconductor shortages and parts supply constraints due to China's lockdown, both domestic and export sales increased, surpassing 8,000 units for the first time this year," adding, "We will make every effort to resolve undelivered inventory through parts supply and recover sales."
