[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 1st that Noh Kyu-duk, South Korea's chief nuclear envoy for North Korea, and Sung Kim, the U.S. Special Representative for North Korea, will hold a South Korea-U.S. chief nuclear envoy consultation on the 4th.
Chief Noh will board a flight to the United States on the morning of the 2nd, hold consultations on the 4th, meet with other administration officials, and return on the 7th.
The two countries will discuss response measures to North Korea's intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launches during this visit to the U.S. Chief Noh also held a phone consultation with Representative Kim on the 24th, when North Korea launched an ICBM, condemning the missile launch.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "Both sides are expected to share assessments of the serious situation on the Korean Peninsula, including North Korea's ICBM launches, and hold close consultations on future response directions."
