[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Korea Island Promotion Agency (Director Oh Dongho) and the Korea Local Information Development Institute (Director Lee Jaeyoung) have joined hands to build an island information platform.
On the 1st, the Korea Island Promotion Agency announced that it signed a business agreement with the Development Institute at the 10th-floor strategy meeting room of the Korea Local Information Development Institute in Seoul, covering joint research in rural, island, and maritime port sectors and regional balanced development.
This agreement was prepared to establish a cooperation system with the Development Institute, a specialized regional institution, to accelerate digital transformation in the regions and promote balanced regional development.
The signing ceremony was held with the attendance of 15 officials from both organizations, including Director Oh Dongho of the Korea Island Promotion Agency and Director Lee Jaeyoung of the Development Institute.
Both organizations agreed to mutually cooperate in ▲ digital policy research and data information system development-related collaboration ▲ information sharing for building the island information platform ▲ collaboration and exchange in information system construction, operation, and maintenance.
They also plan to jointly cooperate on tasks such as joint research on advanced technology public projects and disaster and safety R&D projects, joint research on the development of the Island Promotion Agency’s academy programs, and sharing educational information.
Director Oh Dongho said, “Expectations for balanced regional development are growing, such as the recent establishment of a special committee for balanced regional development in the Presidential Transition Committee,” adding, “We will create practical results for regional development based on the infrastructure and know-how of both organizations regarding the regions.”
Director Lee Jaeyoung stated, “Through this agreement, both organizations will jointly discover and support support measures needed in the regional field to foster specialized regional industries,” and added, “We hope to contribute to job creation through revitalizing the regional economy.”
