[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, completed the operation of the second residents' discussion meeting for six days from March 17 to derive project tasks targeting all 12 eup and myeon in order to be selected for this year's Rural Agreement public offering project hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

This second residents' discussion meeting collected opinions from more than 6,000 Geochang residents through a survey, starting with the first residents' discussion meeting in October last year.

The Rural Agreement project is a project to create a foundation for establishing a convenient living environment and providing basic living services needed in the region. This is a large-scale rural area development project that will invest up to 30 billion KRW in national funds (42.8 billion KRW including local funds) over five years.

Since 2020, the county has been organizing related organizations and meeting the essential conditions for the public offering to promote the project. They are establishing a project plan tailored to regional characteristics and aiming for final selection through project application in May, evaluation by Gyeongnam Province, and evaluation by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in June.

County Governor Gu In-mo attended the second discussion meeting following the first and said, “Thank you to many residents for participating so that we can be selected for this Rural Agreement public offering.” He added, “We will actively promote resident-led rural area development projects and do our best to create a convenient living environment and a happy Geochang.”
