[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Jeollanam-do Boseong-gun announced on the 1st that the Boseong600 project, a community-driven initiative called "Our Neighborhood, We Cultivate" (hereinafter Boseong600), has been completed.

The Boseong600 project is a resident participation-type village cultivation project in which residents themselves nurture over 600 natural villages throughout Boseong-gun. It has been promoted as a key policy of Boseong-gun since 2020.

As the first project of its kind nationwide, 557 villages participated over the past two years, and this year, about 6,000 residents from 199 villages participated, successfully concluding the project.

Through this project, murals were painted on abandoned warehouses in the villages, flowers and trees appeared along village entrances, and vacant lots piled with trash were transformed into parks, with everyone working together to cultivate their villages.

Going forward, the villages will continue to shine brightly through the ongoing interest and affectionate care of the residents.

Although the Boseong600 project, conducted as a three-year plan, ends this year, from next year, support will be provided to ensure continuous maintenance, such as by paying management fees to the villages that carried out the project.

A Boseong-gun official said, "We deeply thank the residents who participated in the Boseong600 project," and added, "We will continue to expand the brand value of 'Boseong600' into various fields such as welfare, economy, culture, and environment."

Meanwhile, the Boseong600 project was the only local government nationwide to receive the Prime Minister's Commendation for Regional Industry Promotion last year. It has also been awarded the Green Environment Award, the Local Autonomy Policy Award, and was selected as an excellent project for proactive administration by Jeollanam-do.
