[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] A male singer in his 30s who appeared on a cable channel hip-hop audition program tested positive in a detailed drug analysis conducted by the National Forensic Service (NFS), and the police are currently investigating.
The Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 1st that they are investigating a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
Police received a report from a woman around 2:10 a.m. on January 28 in front of a convenience store in Mapo-gu, stating that she had smoked a powder presumed to be marijuana with singer Mr. A at a nearby hotel. When the woman ran out of the hotel, Mr. A followed her but reportedly denied the claim.
The police conducted a preliminary drug test on both individuals that day, but both tested negative. Subsequently, the woman received a negative result from the NFS detailed analysis, but Mr. A tested positive for drugs in the NFS detailed analysis on March 31.
A police official stated, "We are coordinating a date for Mr. A to appear for questioning."
