[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, was the only basic local government in the Gwangju area to receive the highest grade (SA) for four consecutive years in the "National Basic Local Governments' Pledge Fulfillment and Information Disclosure Evaluation" conducted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters.
According to the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters on the 1st, this evaluation was conducted over about 100 days from February 14th, targeting 226 local governments nationwide, through strict screening by an evaluation team composed of experts in various fields and monitoring of pledge information by each local government.
The evaluation items and scoring applied 100 points each for pledge fulfillment completion, 2021 goal achievement, and resident communication fields, while the two fields of web communication and pledge consistency were classified as success or failure.
As a result of the evaluation, Nam-gu's pledge fulfillment completion rate was 80.7%, which was higher than the national average of 71.72% for basic local governments.
It received favorable reviews for rapidly promoting regional economic revitalization and improving residents' quality of life, such as establishing an energy new industry base in the national and local industrial complexes in the Daechon-dong area, promoting urban regeneration projects in the old downtown area, which is a backward region, and operating the "Happy Welfare 7979 Center" that universally provides customized welfare services.
In addition, Nam-gu operated the "Manifesto Nam-gu" website so that residents could easily and conveniently check various information such as the status of pledge fulfillment, and received good evaluations in the resident communication field by disclosing the status of pledges by dong through the "Pledge Map."
Furthermore, Nam-gu held an annual pledge fulfillment evaluation committee composed of private members to increase the transparency of pledge fulfillment, actively engaged in resident communication by holding pledge progress report meetings with resident juries, and revised ordinances to provide institutional support for pledge fulfillment, earning the honor of being selected for the highest grade.
A Nam-gu official stated, "Based on sincere pledge fulfillment, we have obtained the highest grade for four consecutive years and have consistently won awards at the annual pledge excellence case competition, achieving good results. We will continue to do our best to provide residents with trust and confidence."
