[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Yeosu Maritime Police in Jeonnam announced on the 1st that they will conduct special crackdowns to prevent safety accidents that threaten public safety during the spring water leisure activity season and to preemptively block illegal activities.
According to Yeosu Maritime Police, after a publicity and guidance period from April 1 to April 8, crackdowns will be carried out from April 9 to May 1 targeting local water leisure clubs and individual water leisure participants.
Last year, violations by water leisure participants included a total of 48 cases such as failure to wear life jackets and failure to report long-distance water leisure activities.
This special crackdown will focus on the three major safety negligence practices: ▲ unlicensed operation ▲ drunk navigation ▲ failure to wear safety equipment, along with violations of navigation rules.
A Yeosu Maritime Police official stated, “It is necessary for water leisure participants themselves to comply with regulations and make efforts to prevent accidents in advance through pre-departure safety inspections.”
