[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Public Home Shopping announced on the 23rd that the Consumer Product Evaluation Committee will be held via video conference to practice social distancing. The Consumer Product Evaluation Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Evaluation Committee) is one of the mandatory processes that products, including new products, must go through before being listed and broadcasted. To ensure fairness, the evaluation committee is composed of internal and external judges who comprehensively assess product composition, design, performance, and more from various perspectives. After passing the Evaluation Committee, products undergo quality inspection, followed by partner registration, contract signing, and sales broadcasting.
Public Home Shopping holds the Evaluation Committee every Thursday, where the product planner (MD) presents the product, and after a Q&A session with the committee members and evaluation, products that pass proceed to sales broadcasting. In response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to practice social distancing, the 255th Evaluation Committee held on the 23rd was conducted via remote video conference. The government-integrated communication system 'On-Nara PC Video Conference' was used. External committee members joined the product evaluation by connecting to the video conference system with pre-checked equipment.
A Public Home Shopping official stated, "Given the nature of home shopping where many partner companies come and go for product sales broadcasts, practicing social distancing is even more important," and added, "For the time being, we plan to conduct the Evaluation Committee remotely for both partner companies and our employees."
