[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Hong Joon-pyo, an independent elected member (Daegu Suseong), criticized former Future United Party general election committee chairman Kim Jong-in on the 22nd for demanding unlimited authority without a term limit as a condition for taking the position of emergency committee chairman, calling it "an act of underestimating the party."

In a post on his Facebook that day, Hong said, "No matter how much the party has fallen apart, asking for unlimited authority without a time limit is an act of underestimating the party too much," and emphasized, "In that case, wouldn't it be better to just split up and come together again? I don't think it's time to even give up the minimum pride."

Earlier that day, the United Party decided to switch to the 'Kim Jong-in emergency committee system' with former chairman Kim as the emergency committee chairman. Acting party leader Shim Jae-cheol explained, "We decided to proceed with the Kim Jong-in emergency committee system from now on," and “On the 21st, we conducted a full survey by calling all 142 members of the 20th National Assembly and the 21st elected members. Only two people were unreachable, and after collecting opinions from the remaining 140, the final consensus was that the Kim Jong-in emergency committee had the majority."

Meanwhile, former chairman Kim also appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' the same day, arguing that an emergency committee without restrictions on duration and authority is necessary. He said, "If you are too obsessed with the party constitution and regulations regarding emergency measures, you can't do anything," and added, "When the country declares martial law in an emergency, even the constitution is suspended."

He continued, "There is no point in forming an emergency committee now unless thorough preparations are made on how to lead the next presidential election."
