[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased to 10,702 on the 23rd.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, the number of confirmed domestic cases increased by 8 compared to the previous day.


Among the new patients, 4 were imported cases and 4 were locally transmitted. Two patients were identified during quarantine.


Additional patients in the metropolitan area and Daegu-Gyeongbuk region were 1 and 4 respectively. By region, Daegu had the highest number with 4 cases, followed by Busan and Gyeonggi with 1 case each.



The number of patients who were declared recovered and released from isolation increased by 134 to 8,411 compared to the previous day. The death toll rose by 2 during the same period to 240.
