To address the educational blind spots that may arise as elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide decided to start online classes amid the prolonged COVID-19 situation, laptops donated by local company Epi Korea (CEO Bae Moon-chan) on the 1st were distributed to students from multi-child families.
The district conducted a full survey of families with three or more children in elementary, middle, and high schools within the area, selecting a total of 100 students: 34 from 14 elementary schools and 66 from 10 middle and high schools.
Laptops were delivered to middle and high schools on the 10th and to elementary schools on the 16th, so that they could be distributed to the students.
Shin Hong-gyun, vice principal of Muhak Middle School, who received the laptops, said, “Thanks to the support from local companies, this will be a great help to students who had difficulty attending online classes,” and added, “We will distribute them to the students in need and do our best to encourage active participation in classes.”
Jung Won-oh, mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “I hope this alleviates some of the inconveniences students face with the online school opening due to the COVID-19 situation,” and expressed gratitude to the companies that willingly practiced sharing for the benefit of local students.
