[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] A man in his 50s who was confirmed positive for COVID-19 at Daegu Dalseong-gun Je2 Miju Hospital, where a cluster infection occurred, has died. As a result, the number of deaths in the Daegu area due to COVID-19 has increased to 112, and nationwide to 166.


According to Daegu City on the 1st, a 57-year-old man who was hospitalized and receiving treatment at Daegu Medical Center died at around 2:33 a.m. that day.


The man, who had been hospitalized at Je2 Miju Hospital since February 2015 due to schizophrenia, diabetes, and hypertension, was confirmed positive during a full inspection of psychiatric hospitals on the 27th of last month and was transferred to Daegu Medical Center the next day for treatment.


At Je2 Miju Hospital, a specialized psychiatric hospital, 135 confirmed cases (129 patients and 6 staff) have occurred so far. The man who died on the 1st is the first death at this hospital due to COVID-19.



Je2 Miju Hospital (8th to 11th floors) shares the same building with Daesil Nursing Hospital (3rd to 7th floors, 94 confirmed cases), where 94 confirmed cases have occurred.
