[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK Innovation's main production base, SK Ulsan Complex (SK Ulsan CLX), has been replacing in-person training sessions with online live training since March. This is the first time in the more than 30-year history of SK Ulsan CLX's on-site technical staff training courses.

To prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, SK Ulsan CLX adopted a 'contactless (untact)' training method to practice social distancing and prepared online live training to efficiently guide trainees who have been studying from home since the 26th and to enhance learning effectiveness.

This online live training started on March 5 for 113 trainees of the 4th batch at SK Ulsan CLX and will continue until the end of the work-from-home period.

The lectures are compressed into two sessions per day, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., covering a wide range of essential topics for production sites, including mechanical equipment and processes such as compressors, furnaces, and heat exchangers, as well as fire and safety accident prevention. Trainees receive theory-focused education through online live and in-person training, followed by six months of on-site practice to develop practical skills.

Regarding this initiative, trainees evaluated it as a meaningful attempt applying a new training method considering the characteristics of the younger generation familiar with YouTube and internet lectures, showing high satisfaction.

Meanwhile, SK Innovation has been leading the frozen recruitment market with 'untact recruitment' by preparing contactless hiring methods using online platforms, starting with conducting the 2020 wage negotiation signing ceremony via video conference in March, followed by video interviews and online written tests to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
