On May 5, Children's Day, a man in his 20s who shocked citizens by walking naked in broad daylight in downtown Daejeon was apprehended by the police.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Daejeon Dunsan Police Station announced on May 6 that they had arrested and were investigating a 29-year-old man, referred to as Mr. A, on charges of public indecency.
Mr. A is accused of walking around the streets completely naked at approximately 4:25 p.m. the previous day in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. The police received four separate reports at the time, including, "There is a person walking naked between Eunhasu Intersection and Galleria Department Store." Officers were dispatched to the scene and arrested Mr. A.
It was found that Mr. A walked naked through the streets for at least 10 minutes from the time he was first seen by people until he was apprehended by the police. During the police investigation, he reportedly stated, "I felt comfortable taking off my clothes. I felt good shouting my name in front of many people while undressing."
It is not yet confirmed whether Mr. A has a history of drug use or mental illness. The police plan to refer Mr. A to the prosecution once the investigation is complete.
