"Angry Over Financial Dispute": Serial Shooting in U.S. Korean Town Leaves 5 Casualties

A shooting incident in a Korean town located in a small city near Dallas, Texas, resulted in five casualties.

According to local media reports such as the Associated Press and Fox News, on May 5 (local time), a series of shootings occurred at a shopping mall and a nearby apartment complex within "K-Town," a Korean enclave in Carrollton, located north of Dallas, Texas. As a result, two people were killed and three were injured.

Based on the reports, at around 10 a.m. that day, the suspect fired a gun at four business associates near K-Town Plaza. One male victim died at the scene, while two other men and one woman were injured.

Soon after, a report of gunshots was received from a nearby apartment, where another man was found dead.

The police have identified Seungho Han, a 69-year-old owner of a Japanese restaurant at the K-Town strip mall, as the suspect in both shooting incidents. While Han's nationality and ethnicity have not been disclosed, it is presumed that he is of Korean descent. Han was apprehended by the police in front of a nearby supermarket while attempting to flee the scene after the incident.

Han told the police that he was angry with the victims due to financial disputes related to business matters.

Roberto Arredondo, Chief of the Carrollton Police Department, stated that the incident is not being considered a "random mass shooting." The police chief explained, "It appears that the shooter and the victims had business relationships, although the exact reason for their meeting is unknown."

The identities of the five victims have not yet been confirmed.

Meanwhile, Seongcheol Woo, president of the Dallas Korean Association, told Fox4 that he was acquainted with some of the victims, expressing his condolences by stating, "All of them came here as immigrants and worked hard for their families."

Carrollton is a small city with a population of approximately 130,000, located 32 kilometers from Dallas. Among the residents, it is reported that about 4,000 are of Korean descent.
