On May 6, at the briefing room of the Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education, the Barefoot Walking National Movement Headquarters Gyeongnam Branch held a press conference and stated, "We must move away from entrance exam- and competition-focused education and shift toward education that fosters the growth of both body and mind in our children." They added, "We fully support preliminary candidate Kwon Soonki, who embodies a philosophy of child-centered holistic education and health and character education."
They emphasized, "Experiencing nature by feeling the soil underfoot and the wind while running and playing is not just an activity, but living education where children learn character and a sense of community," and added, "What we need is education that teaches not only knowledge but also life, and one that fosters growth rather than just focusing on grades."
They further commented, "Preliminary candidate Kwon has a deep understanding of the fundamentals of education through years of experience in the field and university administration," and evaluated him as "a prepared educational leader with an educational philosophy that values health and character while also preparing for future education in the AI era."
They also said, "We are confident that, together with preliminary candidate Kwon Soonki, education where children play in nature and grow in both body and mind, and education that teaches coexistence beyond competition, will become a reality."
A representative from the Barefoot Walking National Movement Headquarters Gyeongnam Branch stressed, "We decided to lend our support to help create a happy educational environment for children," and added, "We will join in the new changes for Gyeongnam education."
Meanwhile, since its founding in 2016, the Barefoot Walking National Movement Headquarters has been pursuing its mission of the 'Barefoot Walking for Life Movement,' creating a path for reconnecting humanity and nature, and body and mind.
Domestically, there are 17 branches, and globally, including in the United States, Japan, and Germany, there are a total of 20 branches, with 143 local chapters under them.
