Kang Kiyoon, the People Power Party candidate for Changwon mayor in South Gyeongsang Province, together with Park Wansu, the candidate for governor of South Gyeongsang, local city and provincial council candidates, and regional National Assembly members, strongly condemned the ruling party’s push for the so-called “fabricated indictment special prosecutor bill,” labeling it as a “Lee Jaemyung bulletproof special prosecutor.”

On this day, Kang Kiyoon, the Changwon mayoral candidate, held a “Joint Resolution Rally to Block Special Prosecutor's Investigation on Lee Jaemyung's Indictment Cancellation” at his campaign office, attended by Park Wansu, the South Gyeongsang governor candidate, and local city and provincial council candidates.
In a resolution statement, candidate Kang declared, “We are now witnessing the heartbreaking reality of Korean democracy collapsing,” adding, “The Democratic Party, in an unprecedented act of judicial sabotage, is attempting to conceal President Lee Jaemyung’s alleged corruption by pushing forward a so-called ‘special prosecutor for indictment cancellation.’”
He continued, “Changwon is the heart of Korea’s industry and a city of just citizens. The city and provincial council candidates here, along with myself, will never stand idly by. We must all block this attempt at a special prosecutor with extraordinary determination and resolve.”
Kang further declared a strong condemnation of the “Lee Jaemyung bulletproof special prosecutor,” which he claims undermines the rule of law. He pledged to risk everything to stop any attempt to intimidate the judiciary or obstruct justice. All People Power Party candidates also vowed to focus solely on the citizens and to defend the pride of Changwon and the fairness of South Korea to the very end.
Kang especially warned those who undermine the law and principles for political ambition, strongly urging an immediate halt to any attempt to sway public judgment by mobilizing power and the media for reckless allegations.
He further warned that if anyone tries to monopolize local power through slander and smear tactics, they will face strong resistance from the just citizens of Changwon.
The opening ceremony for Kang Kiyoon’s Changwon mayoral campaign office, held earlier, was attended by Park Wansu, the South Gyeongsang governor candidate, National Assembly members Yoon Hanhong (Changwon Masan Hoewon) and Kim Jongyang (Changwon Uichang-gu), sponsorship chair Kim Sungchan, Gyeongnam superintendent of education candidate Kwon Soonki, joint election committee chairs Jo Cheongrae, Lee Eun, and Song Hyunggeun, as well as about 1,000 supporters.
