Cheongdo County is delivering a warm message to the local community by hosting various events in May, the Month of Family, to express respect for the elderly and hope for children and students.
The Cheongdo County Social Workers Association (President Park Kiho) held a "Carnations of Love" event on May 5th to commemorate Parents' Day, making and delivering carnations for the elderly in local welfare facilities.
About 50 members of the Cheongdo County Social Workers Association and Cheongdo County Family Volunteer Group made 1,100 carnations and delivered them to 22 elderly welfare facilities in the district. Provided by Cheongdo County

President Park Kiho shared, "I am delighted to be able to express our gratitude to the elderly," while Na-Gyeong Lee, Director of the Administrative Safety and Welfare Bureau, who attended the event, responded, "I hope this May will be a warm month for all county residents to reflect on the grace of our elders."
On the same day, the "2026 Cheongdo Children's Grand Festival" was held successfully at the Cheongdo Outdoor Performance Hall, attended by around 2,000 children and families.

원본보기 아이콘This festival, hosted by the Cheongdo Junior Chamber (President Lee Seungmin), featured a variety of experiential programs, including drone flying, horseback riding, and face-shaped rice bread making, along with magic and bubble shows, filling the venue with children's laughter.
Acting County Governor Kim Donggi emphasized, "We will work even harder to make Cheongdo a great place to raise children so that the children, who are the future of Cheongdo, can laugh freely."
Practical support also continued for the development of local talent.
The Cheongdo County Talent Development Scholarship Foundation selected 353 scholarship recipients for 2026 and has completed the payment of a total of 169.5 million won in scholarships.
This year's scholarships were awarded to elementary, middle, high school, and university students in seven categories, including academic excellence, hope, special talent, and large families.
Since its establishment in 2008, the foundation has provided about 1.5 billion won to approximately 3,000 students. Looking forward, it plans to continue its annual scholarship program of around 700 million won, including support for prestigious high schools and after-school programs.
A Cheongdo County official stated, "Through attentive administration and support that encompasses all generations, from the elderly to children, we will strengthen community bonds and build a Cheongdo where everyone can be happy."
