Shinhan University (President Kang Sungjong) has been officially selected as the operating institution for the '2026 Gyeonggi Northern Region ESG Leading University', organized by the Gyeonggi Social Economy Center (Director Nam Yangho). With this selection, the university has further solidified its position as a key hub for the spread of ESG management in the northern Gyeonggi region for two consecutive years, following last year's achievement.

Recently, our society has been confronting major challenges, including the climate crisis, demographic changes, and digital transformation. In particular, as mandatory ESG disclosure is gradually applied to listed companies from 2026 onward, ESG has now become an essential survival strategy for companies, rather than a matter of choice.
However, the reality in the industrial field remains tough. Statistics show that while more than 80% of companies recognize the importance of ESG management, there is a severe shortage of skilled professionals to lead practical work. Companies in the northern Gyeonggi region, in particular, are facing even greater barriers in securing both infrastructure and talent.
Reflecting these on-site voices, Shinhan University has set its core goal for this year's project as the training of '30 practical ESG professionals' who will drive real management transformation beyond mere awareness-raising.
This year's project is led by Oh-Geun Kwon, Director of External Cooperation, who successfully managed the northern Gyeonggi ESG Leading University project last year and now serves as project manager (PM), and ESG Promotion Team Leader Na-Kyung Lee as process leader (PL), ensuring both continuity and completion of the project. Under the leadership of these two key figures, who have fully incorporated last year's operational know-how, the university plans to offer an even more sophisticated and customized curriculum this year.
The educational program consists of a 'Mini-MBA' level intensive curriculum (24 sessions, 120 hours) that combines theoretical learning, ESG report writing practice, company-tailored ESG diagnostics, and preparation for professional certifications, enabling immediate field deployment.
Shinhan University is currently accepting applications for students for the 2026 ESG Leading University program.
The application period runs from April 29, 2026, to May 28, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., and the program will operate from June 17 to November 12.
Even after the completion of the program, Shinhan University plans to strengthen the ESG ecosystem in the northern Gyeonggi region by forming an alumni association for graduates and maintaining ongoing network management.
Additionally, the university aims to establish a virtuous cycle for talent cultivation by linking the program to its master's course in 'Social Economy' and providing scholarship benefits.
Kang Sungjong, President of Shinhan University, stated, "Building on last year's successful experience, we will introduce an even more stable and advanced support system this year," adding, "Shinhan University will serve as a reliable partner to help northern Gyeonggi companies overcome the challenges of ESG management and contribute to the sustainable development of the local community."
Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Social Economy Center, which organizes this project, systematically supports the growth and investment of social economy organizations in the province and leads the spread of social value by bridging the public and private sectors to enrich residents' lives.
