[June 3 Election] Jinbo Party: "Choose Two District Mayors in Gwangju... Political Revolution Begins in Honam"

Kim Joo-up and Jung Heesung Hold Press Conference on May 6 to Appeal for Support
Call for "Dual-Winged Politics Beyond Democratic Party Monopoly"

"Both the Honam and Yeongnam regions are experiencing significant shifts at the same time. In Honam, for the first time in 30 years of local elections, the political winds are favoring both progressive and democratic forces, and in Daegu, there is even talk of the possibility of the first-ever Democratic Party mayor."

Jinbo Party candidates in the Gwangju area appealed for support in the upcoming June 3 local elections, emphasizing the need for "political change that moves beyond the Democratic Party's monopoly" in the Gwangju mayoral races.

On the morning of May 6, Kim Joo-up, Jinbo Party candidate for Buk-gu District Mayor, and Jung Hee-sung, candidate for Gwangsan-gu District Mayor, held a press conference in the briefing room of Gwangju City Council. They stated, "If you lend us a bit more of your strength, Honam will once again lead Korea's political revolution, moving beyond the 30 years of Democratic Party monopoly in local autonomy and ushering in an era of progressive and democratic dual-winged politics."

They further stated, "A wind of change that has never been seen before is also blowing in Daegu," and asserted, "Even Daegu, once known as the heart of conservatism, is breaking down the walls of regionalism and embracing the 'wings of democracy.'" They urged, "Please vote for the Jinbo Party. Only when the second place is strong can the first place develop," adding, "If the Jinbo Party grows stronger, the Democratic Party will also develop, and the Lee Jaemyung administration can succeed."

They also said, "The Jinbo Party must become stronger in Honam to dissolve the People Power Party, which is a party of insurrection," and appealed, "To lead the political revolution in Honam, we ask that at least two out of the five Gwangju district mayor positions be chosen from the Jinbo Party." They concluded by pledging, "Kim Joo-up, candidate for Buk-gu District Mayor, and Jung Hee-sung, candidate for Gwangsan-gu District Mayor, will take the lead in completing this political revolution."
